My Story

First of all, it's obvious that I'm not a professional bodybuilder, but as you can see, I'm also not some out of shape dude sitting behind a desk trying to push something I know nothing about (although I do indeed sit behind a desk most of the day!). However, I was once small, skinny, and weak.

I started lifting weights when I was about 15 but couldn't seem to gain weight to save my life. Back then, all I had were a rusty old bench and some of those plastic cement filled weights that were falling apart. Remember those? Well, I graduated high school in 1993 at a measly 135 lbs, at 5'10. And because I had always been small and weak, I got picked on throughout most of my childhood. Man, did that suck! But even through the times when I wanted to throw in the towel, something inside me told me to keep pushing. I entered the realm of weight training as a means to an end yet it became an extreme passion.

At 17 - 135 lbs - Skinny and weak - I was a nice guy but I grew up getting picked on and lacked confidence.

It wasn't until my mid-20s when I started putting on some real muscle mass, hitting the 200 lb mark. I was lifting heavy and eating everything in sight (of course I learned about proper nutrition and recovery later as well). Now this may not sound like a big deal to some, but from where I came from, this was like living a dream. I had learned the importance of intense training, discipline and consistency. My Hardcore Muscle Building Program is a product of my own trial and error as well as humbling myself to always being a student of those who know more and have more experience than I do. It's a product of my passion.

Whereas I admire every aspect of bodybuilding as well as powerlifting and strongman events, I've never really had the desire to compete (who knows, maybe someday). My place in this sport is simply doing what I love; training and helping people reach goals they once thought were unattainable. Whether we compete or not, this is a huge part of who we are.

I will do this for the rest of my life and I want to encourage you to do the same. The ability we have to train is a God given ability; almost like a super power. And if you don't use it, you'll lose it.
